A major food production company and distributor – Dan-D Foods from Canada recently affiliated with STAR-K Kosher Certification. The coconut cream originally manufactured by Celebes Coconut Corporation of Butuan City, Mindanao Island, Philippines is now kosher certified by STAR-K. Rabbi Eliyahu Shuman approved the certification last October 26, 2012 and subject to renewal on July 31, 2013.
Dan On from Vietnam founded this famous company in 1989. He came to Canada in 1979 as a refugee. After staying for various months in a Malaysian refugee camp, he was adopted by George and Irene Kavanagh. He worked for George’s granola factory and it was there where he got the idea of establishing Dan-D Foods. He started with the production of cashews and now the company has grown to the distribution of over 2,000 SKU’s of cereals, baking supplies, confectionery, spices, spreads, dried fruits etc.The company has three brands under their name:Dan-D-Pak™, Dan-D Bulk™ and Dan-D Organic™. Now, the company has 85 employees in the main office and over 1,500 workers all over the world.
The company operates with certification from the CCOF (California Certified Organic Farmers) for their organic products. The company in the United States, Vietnam, Thailand, China, Taiwan with distribution markets to as far as Europe, Korea, Japan, Australia and South America.
